The RADIANCE 300 MODEL - ROOFTOP AMPHITHEATRE

by Gary A. Flynn

Sometimes, you just need to dream. Really dream.

Six friends — three men, three women — step out of the elevator as the doors glide open 150 feet above the street, dusk settling over the valley like a velvet curtain. They’ve arrived at Sam’s, the pre‑seating lounge tucked just below the rotating restaurant above — a warm, amber‑lit homage to a 1950s New York supper club.

The moment they step forward, the mood wraps around them:

candlelight flickering across auburn leather tufted seating, soft brass glints, the low murmur of elegant conversation. Through the fixed glazing beyond, the mountains glow in the last light of day — a quiet, breathtaking silhouette.

A server approaches with a tray of light apéritifs — crisp, aromatic, perfectly chilled — as other guests drift in, coats over arms, anticipation in their eyes. The group settles in, taking in the atmosphere, the nostalgia, the sense of being suspended between eras.

Then the call comes.

The senior maître‑d’ appears at the landing, offering a warm nod.

It’s time.

They ascend the semi‑circular winding staircase — a sculptural ribbon of bronze and stone — emerging into Mavericks, the rotating dining room above. A tribute to the visionaries who moved mountains, Mavericks is already alive with energy: clinking glasses, low laughter, silhouettes framed against a slowly moving panorama of mountains and sky.

The sun drops behind the ridge as the room gently turns.

Lights dim.

A modern orchestral score drifts through the air like a whisper.

Their four‑course dinner is original, expressive, unforgettable.

Midway through dessert, the Entertainment Director arrives with a smile — and six amphitheater passes. Tonight’s open‑air performance: “Brothers” by Ludovico Einaudi, performed under the stars.

An hour later, wrapped in the music and the night air, the group is escorted down to the President’s Suite level for a moonlit nightcap. White wool‑skinned couches, soft conversation, a handful of amazed guests sharing the moment. Below them, the valley twinkles. Above them, moonlight washes through the treeline along the ridge.

A perfect radiant ending to a radiant night.
